Join Our Hands with Chinese Faithful and Clergy for Relief Works

재중외국문화단체가 중국 교회와 손을 잡고 함께 이재민 구제를 위해 선행을 베풀어 줄 것을 진심으로 요청

Learning from the experience of overseas Churches, the Church in China, since 2017, has been making donation appeals to individuals, parishes, or communities on Palm Sunday for the disaster-relief Fund. Since then, the Palm Sunday is designated as The Disaster-Relief Donation Day

Since its inception, this Appeal has received positive responses and strong support from many dioceses, parishes, individual families, and foreign groups in China. Over the past four years, especially with the COVID-19 epidemic, it have received a total amount of more than 28 million yuan, including Pope Francis’ donation of 100,000 euros.

The Fund for disaster-relief has not only supported the disaster relief activities in China, but also those overseas. In recent years, we have supported the relief works of Guatemala volcano eruption and the Indonesian earthquake and tsunami. Especially for the COVID-19 epidemic, the Church in China has actively donated emergency anti-epidemic materials to South Korea, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, Bangladesh and other countries. The number of direct beneficiaries has exceeded 150,000.

Over the years, the clergy and faithful from the foreign language communities in China have participated in disaster relief works many times. March 28th of 2021 will be the Palm Sunday, and it will be the fifth Disaster-Relief Donation Day. We sincerely invite you, the foreign language Church communities in China, to participate in this activity together with Chinese clergy and faithful.

국제명애와 한국명애등 교회자선단체의 경험을 참고하여 중국교회는 2017년 성지 주일부터 매년 개인 및 본당과 단체의 한 주의 주일 헌금을 전국 성직자와 신자들을 위한 이재민구제기금으로 사용하고 있다.

“이재민구제 기부의 날” 활동은 2017년부터 추진한 이래, 전국 각 교구, 본당, 개인가정, 재중외국문화단체의 적극적인 호응과 큰 지지를 받았다. 3년간의 “이재민구제 기부의 날”과 2020년에 특별 해외 방역 프로그램에 누계 2800여만위안을 받았고, 특히 프란치스코 교황님께서는 10만 유로를 기부하여 지지를 표하셨다.

“이재민구제 기부의 날”이 시작된 이래, 중국교회는 자국의 피해 상황에 대처하는 것은 물론 해외의 고통받는 사람들에게도 도움의 손길을 내밀었다. 중국교회는 최근 몇 년간 과테말라 화산 폭발, 인도네시아 지진해일 피해 복구를 지원했고, 특히 코로나19 발생 이후 한국, 이탈리아, 스페인, 독일, 벨기에, 필리핀, 방글라데시등 나라에 긴급 방역물자를 기부하는데 적극 나섰다. 국내외 직접 수혜자는 15만 명을 넘는다.

재중외국문화단체의 성직자와 신자들은 그리스도의 정신을 발휘하여 여러 차례 이재민 구제와 죽음에 처한 사람을 구조하고 부상자를 돌보는 자선사업에 참여하였다. 올해 3월 28일 주님 수난 성지 주일이며 5번째로 진행되는 이재민구제 기부의 날을 맞이하면서 재중외국문화단체가 중국 성직자와 신자들과 함께 동참하기를 진심으로 기대한다.
